For myself, the positive memories of school involved the interactions I had with peers and other students. While the content of what you're teaching is important, it is just as important if not more that your students are taken care of mentally. There are many things that will affect the way students learn outside of the content being taught. For this we must look to knowing our students. The elements to this component are knowledge of child and adolescent development, knowledge of the learning process, knowledge of students’ skills, knowledge and language proficiency, knowledge of students interests and cultural heritage, and knowledge of students' special needs.
