Q: What is an EdTech Coach?
A: An EdTech coach can update themselves on new teaching resources and tools to support the teachers in the school. They can embed these resources into their curriculum in meaningful ways. They provide teachers with the information they need in order to interact with their students effectively and use technology to better the learning experience for their students.
Q: What types of EdTech are available to students?
- Each student is provided with a laptop they are able to take home with them, unless in elementary school. They have access to virtual labs using their eLearning website they are all required to have an account for
- According to their website, "the ingenuity system consists of a rigorous curriculum including: vocabulary, video lectures, journal activities, additional online links related to the subject matter, homework, and quizzes. Additional features to classes called Gizmos, which helps students better understand the concepts. Following several sections, students complete a test and all courses have a required final exam. Students work on the course until they achieve mastery, and are give a grade of 'credit' on their transcript when they complete the course."
Q: What kind of professional development are available to teachers regarding EdTech and which one do they use the most?
They utilize praxis, google classroom, jam board, smart boards, and Gmail. Praxi is used the most. Through Praxi, students have access to all of their assignments, what they did in that class that day, grades, discipline action, they are able to order school lunch, and view their attendance record.
Q: How did the school implement the ISTE standards?
“The Michigan Science Standards within this document are the performance expectations for students in grades K-12 for science and engineering practices, cross cutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas of science and engineering.”
