Microsoft Training
Microsoft Learn holds many different training and certification opportunities for all types of learners wanting to further their knowledge and expertise with their technological skills. The two modules I decided to train on were What is Microsoft 365 and Converse, Collaborate, and Build Community in Teams. Here are my take aways below:
Microsoft 365
Microsoft 365 vs Office 365
- Office 365 was introduced first over 10 years ago that combined the core apps of Microsoft.
- Office was a way to grow its "office centric" business and grow in its collaboration services.
- With updated versions of these applications and Microsoft expanding from solely business ventures, renaming Office 365 to Microsoft 365 reflects the extension of what Microsoft has grown into.
- Cloud based service that automatically creates a virtual machine also known as Cloud PCs.
- Windows 365 is used for all types of organizations that need hybrid work solutions accessible across many devices.
- Microsoft is very forward of its cloud first platform for people to work wherever, whenever, and however.
- Microsoft's digital tools are available for all users to connect and be more efficient
- You are able to work offline and then once online your work will upload
Converse, Collaborate, and Build Community in Teams
UNIT 1 - Learning Objectives
UNIT 2 - Increase efficiency with Microsoft Class Teams
UNIT 3 - Create an impact on learners
UNIT 4 - Work with a team in channels
UNIT 6 - Build a content center with Class Notebook
UNIT 7 - Enhance family communication
UNIT 8 - Let me count the ways: The many educational uses for Microsoft Teams
AI & How It's Used in the Classroom
- Identify ways to build a class community using Microsoft Teams
- Explain how Teams facilitates conversations and collaboration
- Describe how to use the Class Notebook as a central location for course content
UNIT 2 - Increase efficiency with Microsoft Class Teams
- Microsoft enables educators to collaborate with learners while being able to integrate their assignments, assessments, and any other applications directly into Teams
- Each unit module that we do learn about outlines an aspect of Teams with relevant pedagogy importance
UNIT 3 - Create an impact on learners
- It is vital to create a safe learning environment
- Simple ways to develop positive class identity are changing class avatar to represent class uniqueness, using announcement features to excitingly make impactful statements in the Posts tab, and encouraging learners with praise.
- Praise is vital for all different students and is easy to implement when using Teams.
UNIT 4 - Work with a team in channels
- Touches on teams and the channels function inside of teams
- Channels can be used to organize content, groups, or even private channels with selected students.
- When creating a private channel, select who can access the content of the channel
- Private channels are great for small group work, group projects, and working separately in departments, divisions, or subject areas.
- Teams has a unique chat feature that works very similarly to how texting or direct messages work.
- Able to chat one on one or in groups, able to call, send videos and attachments, able to see when students are active/available, able to react and reply to messages as well.
UNIT 6 - Build a content center with Class Notebook
- Working on content, class notebook is shared hub for class content and may be integrated with assignments grades and multiple different apps
- There is section for only educators. This is a good place to save emails with parents and hold records you have digitally
- Learners are also able to collaborate on projects and assignments in notebook as well
UNIT 7 - Enhance family communication
- Offers options of weekly guardian email digest (assignment summary, categorized by subject/class, highlights status of assignments)
- Its important to understand the entire family is part of a learners success and so its important that we utilize applications that can help curate that success
UNIT 8 - Let me count the ways: The many educational uses for Microsoft Teams
- Microsoft outlines that it is not just used student to teacher, TEAMS can be used in many different ways.
- Some examples listed are: Educator Evaluation, School Improvement Plans, and Curriculum Planning
- Different teams or groups can be grouped here and used to build projects collaboratively
AI & How It's Used in the Classroom
- What is AI?
- AI is a tool that can be used to improve learning outcomes, reduce educator workload, and increase learner engagement. It is referred to as a resource with “the ability of a computer or other machine to perform those activities [or tasks] that are normally thought to require intelligence.”
- AI is a tool that can be used to improve learning outcomes, reduce educator workload, and increase learner engagement. It is referred to as a resource with “the ability of a computer or other machine to perform those activities [or tasks] that are normally thought to require intelligence.”
- What are the Different Types of AI?
- Content reading
- Conversations and meetings
- Content reading
- OCR
- My experience with AI tools demonstrated in the training
- “Interactive AI tools can enhance engagement by providing immersive and hands-on learning experiences. These tools bring abstract concepts to life, encouraging active participation and promoting deeper understanding. Furthermore, AI-powered educational games and quizzes can make learning more fun and interactive, increasing learner enthusiasm and participation.”
- How does AI Relate to Danielson's Framework for Teaching
- In domain one: planning and preparation we can see how AI would be utilized for content development and delivery. Lesson planning with Edu Aid enables teachers to have various resources and activities readily available to them at the beginning of each lesson. Magic School AI can also be useful for generating concepts that guide understanding within your lesson plan, ultimately creating a space for students to learn to their best abilities based on your preparation and planning.
